The towns of Hiawassee, Young Harris and Blairsville sit high in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest of northeast Georgia, just south of the North Carolina state line.

At 4,784 feet above sea level, Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia and the area’s main attraction. The tower at the top of the mountain offers spectacular 360-degree view and the visitor center offers exhibits, video presentations and interpretive programs during summer. Vogel State Park to the south has a lake, swimming beach, campsites and cottages.


In Hiawassee, a small town on the shores of Lake Chatuge, are the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds which offer a calendar of year-round events as well as tourist attractions such as the historic Pioneer Village and Hamilton Rhododendron Gardens.

Young Harris, located between Hiawassee and Blairsville is home to Brasstown Valley Resort which is home to the highly-rated Brasstown Valley Golf Club. Blairsville sits at the southern part of the 4,180-acre Lake Nottely, which offers excellent boating opportunities.
